The Basics
What Is Peptide Therapy?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. In fact, your body makes many peptides naturally, and they act as signals for things like growth hormone release, tissue repair and metabolism.
Peptide therapy uses specific peptides, usually given as small injections under the skin, to support a health goal. However, peptides are not all the same. A few are FDA approved for specific medical conditions, while many others are not FDA approved and have limited research in people. That is why a provider evaluation comes first.
Before you start, your provider reviews:
- Your goals and health history
- Current medications and supplements
- Lab work, when needed
- Pregnancy, cancer history and other conditions
- Which peptide, if any, is appropriate
Our Peptides
Peptide Treatments Available at Allure
Each peptide has a different purpose, research background and FDA status, too. As a result, your provider helps you choose the option that fits your goals.

Growth Hormone Support
Ipamorelin
A peptide that signals the body to release its own growth hormone. For this reason, it is often discussed for body composition and recovery goals.
Commonly discussed for:
- Lean muscle support
- Sleep and exercise recovery
- Healthy aging goals
Not FDA approved. Offered only after a provider evaluation.

Body Composition
Tesamorelin
A growth hormone-releasing peptide. It is the active ingredient in Egrifta®, which is FDA approved for a specific use.
Commonly discussed for:
- Belly (visceral) fat
- Body composition
- Metabolic health goals
FDA approved (Egrifta®) to reduce excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV and lipodystrophy. Other uses are off-label.

Recovery Support
BPC-157
A peptide originally derived from a protein found in the stomach. However, most research so far has been done in animals.
Commonly discussed for:
- Muscle and tendon recovery
- Joint and soft tissue support
- Active lifestyle goals
Not FDA approved. Offered only after a provider evaluation.

Recovery Blend
Wolverine
A recovery blend that commonly combines BPC-157 and TB-500 (a thymosin beta-4 fragment). Because blends vary, your provider reviews the exact formula with you.
Commonly discussed for:
- Post-workout recovery
- Mobility goals
- Soft tissue support
Not FDA approved. Offered only after a provider evaluation.

Growth Hormone Support
Sermorelin
A peptide that mimics the body’s own growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), so it encourages natural growth hormone release.
Commonly discussed for:
- Sleep quality
- Lean muscle support
- Healthy aging goals
No FDA-approved sermorelin product is currently sold in the U.S. A former brand was discontinued, so today it is prepared by compounding pharmacies.

Skin & Wellness Blend
GLOW
A beauty-from-within blend that commonly combines GHK-Cu (a copper peptide) with BPC-157 and TB-500.
Commonly discussed for:
- Skin appearance
- Hair and nail goals
- Overall wellness
Not FDA approved. Offered only after a provider evaluation.

Performance & Vitality Blend
KLOW
A blend that commonly adds KPV to the GLOW formula of GHK-Cu, BPC-157 and TB-500. Ask your provider about the exact ingredients.
Commonly discussed for:
- Recovery goals
- Active lifestyle support
- Overall vitality
Not FDA approved. Offered only after a provider evaluation.

Fat Metabolism
AOD-9604
A modified fragment of growth hormone studied for fat metabolism. So far, human studies have been limited, and results for weight loss have not been consistent.
Commonly discussed for:
- Body composition goals
- Fat metabolism
- Use alongside diet and exercise
Not FDA approved. Offered only after a provider evaluation.

Hormone Support
HCG
Human chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone, not a typical peptide. It is FDA approved for certain fertility and hormone uses. However, it is not approved for weight loss.
Commonly discussed for:
- Men’s hormone support
- Fertility support (when appropriate)
- Provider-directed hormone care
FDA approved for specific medical uses, such as some fertility treatments. The FDA label states HCG is not effective for weight loss.
Peptides are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease unless FDA approved for that use. Also, availability can change as FDA rules for compounded peptides are updated. All therapies are provided only after an evaluation by a licensed medical provider. Results vary.

Questions
Peptide Therapy FAQs
What is peptide therapy?
Peptide therapy uses specific peptides, which are short chains of amino acids, to support goals such as recovery, body composition or healthy aging. Most are given as small injections under the skin.
Are peptides FDA approved?
Some are, but many are not. For example, tesamorelin (Egrifta®) and HCG are FDA approved for specific medical uses. However, peptides such as BPC-157, ipamorelin, AOD-9604 and blends like Wolverine, GLOW and KLOW are not FDA approved.
Which peptide is right for me?
It depends on your goals, health history and medications. That is why every protocol starts with a consultation and, when needed, lab work.
How are peptides given?
Most peptides are given as small injections under the skin. Your provider then shows you how and how often, since schedules vary by peptide.
How long does it take to see results?
It varies by peptide and by person. Some people notice changes in sleep or recovery within weeks, while others take longer. Still, results are not guaranteed.
Is HCG used for weight loss?
No. The FDA label states that HCG has not been shown to be effective for weight loss. At Allure, HCG is only considered for appropriate hormone or fertility-related needs.
Can I buy peptides online instead?
We do not recommend it. Peptides sold online as “research chemicals” are not meant for people, and their purity and dose are unknown.
Is peptide therapy covered by insurance?
In most cases, peptide therapy is not covered by insurance. Call (951) 374-0127 to ask about current pricing.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes. Walk-ins are welcome at our Riverside clinic Tuesday through Saturday. Even so, booking ahead gives you more time with our provider.
